Pont Neuf Transformed Into a Giant Cave-Like Art Installation in Paris
The iconic Pont Neuf in Paris has been dramatically transformed into an immersive art installation by French artist JR.
The bridge, usually known for its elegant stone arches over the Seine, has been wrapped in a monumental structure that turns it into a vast artificial cave. The installation, titled “La Caverne,” was created as a tribute to the legendary artist duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who famously wrapped the same bridge in 1985.
A massive immersive experience
The installation is striking in scale:
- 120 meters long
- 20 meters wide
- Between 12 and 18 meters high
Visitors walking through it are meant to feel fully immersed in a surreal, rocky cavern environment in the heart of Paris.
Soundscape by Daft Punk member
The experience is not only visual. The sound design was created by Thomas Bangalter, adding atmospheric audio effects that enhance the feeling of being inside a living cave.
Open to the public for a limited time
From June 6 to June 28, visitors can walk through the installation for free. The work temporarily transforms one of Paris’ most historic bridges into an experimental art space blending architecture, nature-inspired design, and sound.
Art that reimagines a landmark
By reshaping a familiar monument into something entirely unexpected, “La Caverne” continues Paris’ tradition of large-scale public art interventions — turning everyday urban spaces into immersive cultural experiences.

Rare Late Snowstorm Brings Perfect Ski Conditions to the Alps in Mid-May
The Alps are experiencing an unusual late-season winter outbreak, turning parts of the region back into a snow-covered landscape despite spring conditions just days ago.
While temperatures in lowland areas recently reached around 25°C, the mountains have shifted dramatically back into winter mode over the Ascension Day weekend. In some areas, snowfall could reach up to 1 meter, with snow even falling down to valley levels.
Ski resorts across France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland have reopened slopes, with skiers and snowboarders enjoying what meteorologists describe as exceptionally rare conditions for mid-May.
At elevations around 1,200 meters, significant snow accumulation has already been recorded, with forecasts predicting even more snowfall in the coming days. Saturday is expected to bring the heaviest conditions, with snow potentially reaching down to 800 meters and even affecting parts of southern Germany.
A rare event not seen in nearly 20 years
Such a late and intense winter episode is highly unusual. The last comparable event occurred in 2007, when large parts of the Alps and southern Germany briefly turned white in mid-May. However, some forecasts suggest that this current cold spell could even exceed those snowfall levels.
“Ice Saints” weather pattern
Meteorologists link the sudden temperature drop to a well-known seasonal phenomenon called the “Ice Saints” period, traditionally observed between May 11 and 15. This timeframe is historically associated with a final risk of frost before stable summer weather arrives.
Travel disruptions and safety concerns
Several mountain passes may be closed due to hazardous winter conditions, impacting travel across alpine regions. Authorities are also warning of potential risks in forested areas, where heavy, wet snow combined with fully leafed trees can cause branches to break and increase the risk of local damage.
Despite the disruption, for winter sports enthusiasts, the situation has created an unexpected bonus: fresh powder snow and fully operational ski areas in the middle of May—a rare sight in modern Alpine tourism.

Warning for Drivers Traveling to France This Summer: Environmental Sticker Still Required
Motorists traveling to or through France this summer should be aware that the country’s low-emission zone rules are still in force. Despite earlier political plans to abolish them, drivers still need a valid Crit’Air environmental sticker to enter many major French cities.
Last month, the French parliament voted in favor of removing the so-called “Zones à Faibles Émissions” (ZFE), arguing that the system unfairly penalizes families who cannot afford newer vehicles. The proposal was strongly supported by right-wing and far-right parties.
However, the Constitutional Council of France has now overturned that decision. The judges did not reject the abolition itself, but ruled that the amendment had no sufficient legal connection to the broader simplification law in which it had been included.
As a result, the low-emission zones remain active for now in cities such as Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Montpellier and Lille.
The Crit’Air sticker classifies vehicles according to their pollution levels. Electric vehicles receive category 0, while older diesel cars fall into the highest-polluting categories. Depending on local air quality conditions, certain vehicles may be temporarily or permanently banned from entering specific urban areas.
Foreign drivers, including tourists from neighboring European countries, can also face fines if they enter a restricted zone without the required sticker. French authorities increasingly cooperate with other European countries to enforce cross-border license plate checks.
The system remains highly controversial in France. Critics argue that low-income households are disproportionately affected because they are less likely to afford electric or hybrid vehicles. Environmental groups, however, point to the severe public health impact of air pollution. According to Santé Publique France, poor air quality contributes to around 40,000 deaths annually in France.
Environmental organization Respire welcomed the Constitutional Council’s decision, calling it “a victory for public health.”
For travelers, the message is simple: if you are driving to France this summer, make sure your vehicle has a valid Crit’Air sticker before entering major cities.

Some places feel like stepping into a different world for the evening.
At Salama, hidden in the heart of Saint-Tropez, warm lighting, arched interiors and rich textures create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and transportive. Inspired by Moroccan design, every detail invites you to slow down and stay a little longer.
The experience goes beyond the setting. Shared dishes, deep flavours and a table filled with colour turn dinner into something to be enjoyed together, not rushed.
It is the kind of place where the evening unfolds naturally — where conversation, food and atmosphere blend into one seamless moment.

Some corners of Saint-Tropez feel untouched by time.
Near Hôtel La Ponche, narrow streets open into quiet courtyards where soft colours reflect the warmth of the sun and every detail feels effortlessly simple. Palm trees sway gently, shutters remain half open and the pace of the day slows without notice.
It is in these small, hidden corners that Saint-Tropez reveals a different side — calm, understated and far removed from the busy harbour life.

Cannes Riviera Hotel is located a short walk from La Croisette, the beach and the shopping streets of central Cannes, making it a practical base for exploring the city without needing transport.
The hotel combines a more classic Riviera atmosphere with modern comfort. Rooms are bright and functional, with some offering terraces or views over the city.
One of the highlights is the rooftop pool and terrace area. During warmer months this becomes a quieter escape from the busy streets below, especially after a day at the beach or in the center.
The location works particularly well if you want to experience Cannes beyond just the seafront. Restaurants, cafés, local markets and smaller streets are all nearby and easy to reach on foot.
This is a good option if you want a central stay with both city access and a more relaxed hotel atmosphere.

Île de Ré is one of the best places on the French west coast if you want a calm beach escape.
Stay near villages like Saint-Martin-de-Ré or Ars-en-Ré. Both are small, easy to explore and close to the beach.
The best way to get around is by bike. You can cycle between villages, beaches and salt fields without needing a car.
Start your day early with a walk or ride along the coast. Beaches are quiet in the morning and the light is soft.
For food, stop at a local market or bakery. Fresh bread, cheese and wine are easy to find and perfect for a simple picnic near the dunes.
Evenings are low-key. Small restaurants, no rush, everything within walking or cycling distance.

The French Riviera is less about what you do and more about how things feel.
Light plays a big role here. Buildings, fabrics and even colours are chosen to reflect the sun rather than absorb it. That’s why everything feels softer, almost faded, even in the middle of summer.
There’s also a strong mix of old and social life. Quiet streets sit right next to busy terraces, and both exist without trying to replace each other. You can step away from the crowd within minutes without leaving the place.
What stands out most is the balance. It’s never fully calm, never fully busy. That tension is what gives the Riviera its character.

Saint-Tropez reflects a mix of coastal identity and historical structure. Fortifications, stone walls and preserved elements like cannons point to its strategic past along the Mediterranean.
Today, these spaces function differently. What was once defensive architecture is now part of a cultural and visual landscape shaped by tourism and leisure.
The contrast between history and current use defines the experience. Architecture remains unchanged, but its meaning evolves with time and context.
Saint-Tropez is not only about lifestyle, it is also about continuity between past and present.

Saint-Tropez offers very different types of stays
In the old town, most options are smaller boutique hotels or apartments. Rooms are often more compact, but you’re within walking distance of the harbour, restaurants and shops. This is the best choice if you want to go out in the evening without worrying about transport.
Around areas like Les Canebiers, you’ll find more villas and hotels with gardens or pools. You’ll need a car, but you get more space, easier parking and a quieter environment during the day.
Further out, towards Ramatuelle or Pampelonne, many stays are closer to beach clubs and larger properties. This works well if your focus is beach days and you don’t mind being outside the centre.
Before booking, decide what matters most:
– walkability and nightlife
– space and privacy
– proximity to the beach
That choice will define how your stay feels.

A weekend in Provence.
Start your day with a visit to a local vineyard. Many wineries around Saint-Rémy-de-Provence or Cassis offer tastings in the morning when it’s still quiet.
Plan a relaxed lunch nearby or at the vineyard itself. Keep it light and take your time.
In the afternoon, visit a local horse stable or riding center. The landscape here is ideal for short rides through nature, especially towards the end of the day when the temperature drops.
Finish with a simple dinner outside and a glass of local wine.
No full schedule needed, just a few well-chosen moments.

The calanques near Marseille are not typical beaches.
These are limestone coves with clear water, surrounded by cliffs. You don’t just arrive here, you plan for it. Most spots require a hike of 30 to 60 minutes, so good shoes and water are essential.
Go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds and heat. Midday can get very busy, especially in summer.
Swimming is allowed in most areas, and kayaking is one of the best ways to explore multiple calanques in one day. You can rent kayaks in Cassis and access places that are harder to reach on foot.
There are no large facilities, so bring what you need and take everything back with you.

Style in Saint-Tropez.
Saint-Tropez is not only known for its beaches and harbour, but also for its strong fashion and lifestyle scene.
In the centre of town you’ll find a mix of local boutiques and well-known brands like Dior and Louis Vuitton. The shopping area is compact, making it easy to explore on foot while moving between small streets, cafés and designer stores.
What stands out is the balance between luxury and everyday life. High-end shops sit next to local spots, giving the town a more relaxed and accessible feel compared to larger cities on the Riviera.
If you are visiting, it’s worth taking time to walk through the streets beyond the harbour, where you get a better sense of the local atmosphere and style of the town.
