Last July I took a trip up to Mount Pilatus, and it turned out to be one of my favourite summer excursions this year. I started from the base in Kriens and took the panoramic gondola up towards the summit. The ride itself offers amazing views over Lake Lucerne, forests and mountain ridges. Once I reached the top at the summit station (Pilatus Kulm), I stepped out and enjoyed the 360-degree panorama of the Swiss Alps. I highly recommend stopping for lunch at the Restaurant Pilatus‑Kulm, the terraces and halls date back a long time and the view while eating is just unbeatable. Here’s a little insider tip: go up by the gondola (via Kriens → Fräkmüntegg → Kulm) and then descend via the historic cogwheel railway from Pilatusbahn (Alpnachstad → Kulm). This railway is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world. If you’re planning a day out and want to feel on top of the world (literally), Pilatus is a perfect choice. #pilatus #switzerland
